Olympic soccer final- played at noon, the scorching heat can almost be 'seen' during the live telecast. the referee even had to allow water breaks to ensure the players did not get dehydrated. And given the pitch looked, not conventional full green but with spaced out and thick white stripes over it, it wasn't exactly a match at the right place, at the right time.
Match wise, Nigeria could not carve out open spaces to score goals as they did in their semi-final mauling of Belgium (Belgium consequently lost 3-0 to Brazil in the Bronze match). Messi was a constant menace in the penalty area, culminating in an assist which allowed Angel di Maria (nice name!) to scored a chipped goal which proved to be the only goal in the match.
Later went to a friend's house for a bbq (yea, bbq in a house; his 2nd floor unit (block has only 4 floors), has a balcony, and a portable bbq pit was laid there. Hope there were no complaints of the smoke and the intense bbq smell. Nice atmosphere as we ate, talked, gathered around the tv for live athletics action, and enjoyed decent psp action as well.
