Caught the practice session and the qualifying races on tv over the past few days, and I'd say it was quite exciting, contrary to my initial expectations of it being boring and monotonous. Qualifying for the grid places was heated, with new lap times recorded at any instant, since a number of cars was on the track at the the same time, but at different points. Each time a lap time is bettered, there is anticipation that the next one will go better, and it takes only seconds to find out. The commentators too did a great job in revving up the atmosphere, giving colourful comments in engaging voices. And speaking of which, why was Tay Ping Hui the host for the F1 studio show? Sure, he's a solid actor (i think- cos i rarely watch dramas on tv), but i don't recall him hosting any show ever before. He looked abit out of sorts at certain scenes, especially in the department of facial expressions. Ok back to race comments, differing camera views were used on the track, such as the side view, the all exciting 1st person view along with G force meters and speedometers along the side of the screen and also the overhead shot, which showed the absolute gorgeous night backdrop. Which leads me to wonder, are the spectators present experiencing the cool and informative camera views, as I picture them only catching a glimpse of a car whizzing by every few seconds, without the details mentioned above. But of course sitting at home, I can't hear the engines and soak up the atmosphere with the legions of excited spectators out there, which may prove to be much more enjoyable.

On to qualifying results: since Massa has secured pole position, it seems likely that he can clinch victory, as it is considerably hard to overtake on this circuit. That said, Hamilton, who is breathing right down his neck, cannot be dismissed, so is Raikkonen, the defending world champion making one last surge to cut down the points deficit he faces in the standings. Tonight is finally the race, which i have a niggling suspicion could be boring for some, since it is a full-on 61 laps, 2 hours or so race, with only the final minutes mattering as to who comes up tops. But whatever, I'll be eagerly anticipating the race tonight!
