New Year Eve!!!
And here i am, having a fever... sick and resting at home, likely screwing all plans for the entire weekend as well. At least there's still the television telecast to look forward to.

thats what you expect from the man who helmed Titanic
week 4, movie 4. And what a stunner Avatar was compared to a certain warrior movie. Engaging plot, nice and paced development, The graphics were just so awesome (and reminiscent of Final Fantasy games), and nothing can be said about those intense, fired-up battle scenes. No need for slow-mo shots (yes, unlike that certain warrior movie), no need for pretty faces, no need for silly plot twists, just rock-solid story telling will do the trick. And did the show end with a Titanic-esque ending? You gotta watch it yourself.

Next up, Sherlock Holmes.

storming through 300 and the matrix
Ahh!!! What was the storm warriors about. A plot that can be summarized in barely 2 sentences, minimal character development, lotsa unnecessary slow-mo shots, and of course scenes that were 300-ish and matrix-ish (those were cool stylish shows, but no point repeating those scenes here lah). Aaron Kwok was more or less wearing a semi-frustrated expression throughout the show, and seemed to only utter like what, 2 sentences for the entire show. Yes, lack of action people complain, too much action people also complain.

On to Avatar.

the most disappointing film of the year is...
Part 2 of the twilight saga, New Moon. Ok maybe im not the lovey-dovey type of person, but the whole show was just so draggy and emo. I have read the book, and knew this 2nd part has a really slow build-up and barely any action scenes, but the film just made it so much worse. Only 15 min or so towards the end of the movie (meaning the 1st 1 hr 45 min or so was a bore-fest) did the story pick up pace and generate excitement, letting the action (really cool though) and tense atmosphere take over. Heck, most of the action sequences is already shown in the trailers. And whats with the shrills and commotions when the character Jacob took off his shirt for the first time.

the biggest sporting event
World Cup draw is done!!! Woohoooz! Let the countdown begin!!! Looking at the draw, North Korea will probably have a very hard time against the likes of Ivory Coast, Portugal and the football kings themselves, Brazil. Germany Australia Serbia Ghana seems an interesting group too, while Group B's Argentina, Greece, Nigeria and South Korea may throw up some surprises. Overall quite well balanced groups, but its a tad disappointing to learn that teams in groups ABCD will not meet any team from groups EFGH till the final itself...

Time to plan the leaves (and mcs).
